Application analysis of dedicated fans for aluminum profile equipment in the aluminum profile generation process



In the entire production process of aluminum profiles from aluminum ingots to finished products, temperature control, exhaust gas treatment, heat dissipation and cooling are crucial for process stability and product quality. The dedicated fan for aluminum profile equipment, with its characteristics of temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and precise and controllable air volume, deeply participates in multiple core processes and has become a key equipment to ensure production efficiency and product accuracy.


1、 Melting and Casting Process: High Temperature Smoke Treatment and Environmental Control

Smelting is the starting point of aluminum profile production, which requires heating the aluminum ingot to 660-750 ℃ to melt it. This process generates a large amount of high-temperature flue gas (including aluminum dust and volatiles), and a stable working environment needs to be maintained around the furnace.

Smoke exhaust: A dedicated high-temperature fan is installed in the exhaust pipe of the smelting furnace (such as the reflector furnace and intermediate frequency furnace), which needs to withstand a smoke temperature of 300-500 ℃. The smoke containing aluminum powder is pumped to the bag filter through stable air pressure. The fan impeller is made of wear-resistant cast iron or coated with ceramic on the surface to prevent aluminum powder from adhering and causing impeller imbalance. At the same time, it is adjusted with frequency conversion control to ensure stable negative pressure in the furnace (preventing smoke from overflowing and polluting the workshop).

Workshop ventilation: The ambient temperature in the smelting area is high (up to 40-50 ℃), and axial flow fans or mixed flow fans are required for forced ventilation. This type of fan is designed with an anti-corrosion coating (to resist the volatile acidic gases during the melting process), and the hot air is discharged from the workshop through a directional air duct, while introducing fresh air to ensure the safety of the working environment for workers.


2、 Extrusion molding process: mold cooling and profile heat dissipation

Squeezing is the core step in shaping aluminum profiles. Aluminum rods are extruded into specific cross-sections through molds at high temperatures of 500-550 ℃. The molds and the newly extruded profiles need to be rapidly cooled to ensure dimensional accuracy.

Mold cooling fan: The extrusion mold will heat up (up to 300 ℃) due to friction during continuous operation. If the temperature is too high, it will cause deformation of the mold and affect the size of the profile. The dedicated axial flow fan blows cold air into the working area of the mold through a circular air duct, and the air volume can be dynamically adjusted according to the extrusion speed (2-10m/min) to ensure that the mold temperature is stable at 150-200 ℃. A guide plate is installed at the air outlet of the fan to concentrate the airflow on the mold cavity, resulting in a 40% increase in cooling efficiency compared to ordinary fans.

Profile air cooling: The temperature of the just extruded profile is about 300-400 ℃, and it needs to be cooled and shaped immediately (to avoid oxidation, discoloration or deformation). A dedicated centrifugal fan blows strong airflow onto the surface of the profile through a bellows, with a wind speed controlled at 15-25m/s, to cool the profile to below 100 ℃ within 10-30 seconds. For different cross-sections (such as thin-walled profiles and complex cavity profiles), the air outlet of the bellows can be customized into corresponding shapes to ensure uniform cooling and reduce defects such as bending and twisting of the profiles.


3、 Surface treatment process: Ventilation of oxidation tank and air supply for drying

The surface treatment of aluminum profiles (oxidation, electrophoresis, spraying) directly affects the corrosion resistance and aesthetics of the product. This process requires the treatment of acid and alkali mist and precise control of drying temperature.

Oxidation tank exhaust gas treatment: During the anodizing process, the electrolyte (sulfuric acid, oxalic acid solution) will evaporate acidic mist. If not treated in time, it will corrode the equipment and endanger the health of workers. A dedicated anti-corrosion fan (impeller and casing made of PP or PVC material) is installed above the oxidation tank in the gas collection hood, and the acid mist is pumped to the spray tower for neutralization treatment through negative pressure. The wind pressure of the fan needs to overcome the resistance of the pipeline and the spray tower (usually 500-1000Pa) to ensure that the acid mist collection rate reaches over 99%.


Drying furnace air supply: The oxidized or electrophoretic profiles need to be dried in a drying furnace (temperature 60-120 ℃), with a dedicated high-temperature axial flow fan responsible for hot air circulation inside the furnace. The fan blades are made of high-temperature resistant aluminum alloy, combined with insulated air ducts to reduce heat loss and control the temperature uniformity inside the furnace within ± 5 ℃. For the curing furnace after spraying (temperature 180-220 ℃), a centrifugal fan with higher temperature resistance is required. After heating the air through a heat exchanger, it is sent into the furnace with a stable wind speed of 2-3m/s to ensure uniform curing of the powder coating.


4、 Other auxiliary links: warehousing and wastewater treatment

Ventilation for profile storage: When storing finished profiles in the warehouse, it is necessary to avoid humid environments that may cause surface oxidation. A dedicated axial flow fan is installed on the top or side walls of the warehouse to reduce air humidity (controlled below 60%) through timed ventilation. The fan uses a moisture-proof motor to adapt to the dusty and humid environment of the warehouse.


Wastewater treatment aeration: The aluminum containing wastewater generated in the production of aluminum profiles needs to undergo biochemical treatment. A dedicated submersible aerator is used to oxygenate the wastewater tank, promoting microbial decomposition of pollutants. This type of fan's underwater components are made of stainless steel material (corrosion-resistant), with an aeration efficiency 20% higher than ordinary aerators, reducing energy consumption in wastewater treatment.


The dedicated fan for aluminum profile equipment runs through the entire production process, from high-temperature melting flue gas treatment to precision extrusion cooling and shaping, and then to surface treatment exhaust gas control. Its performance directly affects product quality, production efficiency, and environmental standards. In practical applications, it is necessary to select the matching fan type based on the characteristics of the process (such as temperature, corrosiveness of the medium, and accuracy of air volume): the high-temperature process focuses on temperature resistance and wear resistance, the acidic and alkaline environment focuses on anti-corrosion materials, and the cooling process focuses on controllable air volume. With the development of aluminum profiles towards lightweight and high-precision, specialized fans are upgrading towards intelligence (linked with production line PLC regulation) and low energy consumption (energy efficiency improvement of more than 15%), becoming an important support for green production in the aluminum processing industry.
